We all have countless things to do in a day and ever mounting to-do lists. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming, crossing off one thing only to add ten more. But above all, we only ever have one task everyday.
Which is to be here. To be present.
When you live in the present, you let go of any tension with the past or anxiety of the future. You meet this moment, allowing all your attention to focus on whatever you may be doing, and mindfully. There’s no pressure to be any more than we already are, there’s no pressure to do anymore than we already are doing. All we have is this moment.
There’s a beautiful passage from The Way of the Peaceful Warrior in which I find comfort.
What time is it?
Where are you?
What are you?
